Jennifer has owned The Pilates Room since 2010, she has background is in dance with a focus in ballet. Pilates was a requirement for her dance training. After trying her first mat class in middle school, she was hooked. It was then a natural step to get her certification. She has since studied in yoga enjoys continually taking workshops in all forms of movement and fitness training.

Jennifer looks at each class she teaches as if she were dancing, constantly moving and flowing. Enjoying life, feeling good and having fun ever time you step into the studio is what it is all about. She looks at her Hermosa beach location as her little sanctuary by the sea. She extends her enthusiasm for Pilates by looking at everyday as a chance to grow as a teacher and student. Jennifer is proud to call herself the owner of The Pilates Room, where the friendly environment makes this boutique neighborhood studio feel like one big family.
Sofya
Sofya was born in Vladivostok, Russia, where she received extensive dance training. While dancing professionally in New York City, she discovered Pilates and was immediately drawn to the method's emphasis on the mind-body connection and quality of movement.
For over a decade, Sofya worked with award-winning ballet dancers and rhythmic gymnasts in NYC, incorporating Pilates into her teaching to enhance performance and strengthen both body and mind. She then transitioned her focus to post-rehabilitation clientele, working with clients in Los Angeles experiencing chronic pain, nerve damage, muscle atrophy, joint conditions, and various post-treatment needs. Witnessing her clients' transformations through Pilates is a source of great joy for Sofya.
Sofya's Pilates training includes a comprehensive classical program Romana Pilates International, Pilates for dancers (Basi Pilates), prenatal and postpartum Pilates, and Functional Range Conditioning (FRA). She continues her education under Master Instructor Trish Garland, personally chosen by Romana Kryzanowska, a leading disciple of Joseph Pilates.
Sofya holds a Master of Arts in Economics from Soka University of Japan.
Hilary Lewis
Hillary is the Co-Owner of Shine Society Fitness and a former professional dancer. She was a Dance Major at LMU, pursued her passion for Musical Theatre in New York City, and worked with Physical Therapy offices teaching clients Pilates between dance auditions and gigs. Her path with dance taught her how to love her body from the inside out, leading her to get trained in Pilates and become an NASM Certified Personal Trainer. She teaches numerous formats in addition to Pilates including Cardio Dance, Barre, and Sculpt, creating unique movements and flows with a mix of classic and contemporary exercises so clients never get bored.
SUSIE GORMAN GREEN
Pilates Teacher • Personal Trainer
Susie, a native of Tennessee, received her Master of Science in Human Performance and Sport Studies from the University of Tennessee. Starting out as a graduate assistant, she worked for twelve years for the Tennessee Men’s Athletic Department as the Spirt Coordinator for the Nationally ranked UCA Cheerleading, Mascot and UDA Dance Team programs. She also taught Kinesiology classes for the Exercise Science Department, adjunct, during her stint at UT. In the 90s, Susie was recruited by American Aerobics Association International/International Sports Medicine Association (AAAI/ISMA) to become a Master Teacher Trainer for their fitness certifications. She established the Southeast Region for AAAI and still travels nationally and internationally educating fitness professionals.
In 2000, Susie relocated to Manhattan Beach, California and began a full-time fitness career in Los Angeles at Manhattan Country Club where she worked for seven years before moving to Palm Springs, CA.
As a result of overuse injuries from triathlon, she decided to deepen her knowledge for herself by learning the Pilates Method from The PSC Pilates Teacher Training in Palm Desert. She has a private practice at Ecore Fitness and Pilates in Palm Springs and specializes as a Clinical Pilates.
She is married and has a family of four rescue dogs. She guest lectures and teaches fitness classes at Corporate Conferences for Destination Concepts in Southern California. Her interests include triathlons and animal rescue.

​Genevieve Alpay
Genevieve brings her passion for Pilates to help her clients gain more flexibility in their bodies which will keep them stronger and overall centered with mind body connection. Genevieve was certified by PSC in 2012. Her program was tailored heavy on the anatomy side which is important to her- gave Genevieve the foundation of rehabbing clients such as professional athletes, professional dancers and your local beach city resident. On her spare time she loves to play pickle, workout, walk her puppy Ti everywhere, get her hifi coffee & spend time with her husband Ego & sons Sterling & George.
Laura Plourde
Laura is a certified Pilates instructor and Clinical Herbalist specializing in women’s health. She discovered Pilates while rehabbing a hip injury and was drawn to how it builds strength, focus, and body awareness. Certified through Long Beach Dance Academy with an emphasis on rehab and anatomy, she’s continued her education through Stott Pilates and the Creative Collective Balance Teacher Training with Shelley Williams.
Laura is passionate about a holistic approach to vitality and wellness and loves to combine Pilates with herbs to feel strong, empowered, and resilient. She lives in the South Bay with her husband, two teens, and their dog, Izzy — and enjoys hiking, beach days, and hunting down a really great breakfast burrito.
