MONICA BUMATAY

Monica Bumatay started dancing her life away at age 6 with the Orange County Ballet Company. She attended the Orange County HS of the Arts and went on to obtain a BFA in dance and dance composition at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). In 1994 an instructor suggested she try Pilates and later it was part of her dance curriculum at CalArts. After sustaining some injuries and using Pilates to help in her rehabilitation, she became a certified instructor in 2000 with Marie-Jose Blom at Long Beach Dance Conditioning.

In 2002, Monica fell in love with The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®. She studied GYROTONIC® with Donna Place and Sebastian Plettenberg, GYROKINESIS® with Serafina Pechan and Alicia Head, and was certified by Juliu Horvath, creator of The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® Other additional GYROTONIC® trainings and certifications include the medical application workshops with Paul Horvath, PT and all the specialized equipment. Monica is currently a GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Pre-Trainer and in 2010 was accepted into the GYROTONIC® Master Trainer program which she will complete later this year.

Monica has worked with a wide range of clients including those with severe physical complications to professional athletes and dancers from 6 years old to 96 years old. In her rare free time she enjoys making silly faces with her 3 year old daughter, Malayna and romping around the world with her musician husband, Danny.
