Teaching Style: classical, motivating, focusing on the positive

Lisa Spinney's history in movement and athletics began very early on.  Playing competitive soccer and tennis through high school, and tennis into college, staying active was always a priority.  She began teaching tennis in high school and continued doing so for 10 years, knowing she wanted to teach and continue work in the physical realm. Lisa graduated from Claremont McKenna in 2005 with a B.A. in Psychology and all-conference tennis honors.  Soon after, she began looking for a new way to mix up her workout regimen after years of sports and competition. She quickly turned to Pilates; it immediately gave her a new feeling of physical and mental well-being, and she knew she wanted to continue forward with an elevated practice of the Pilates Method.

With years of teaching experience and a new passion for Pilates, she felt it only natural to continue to learn as much as possible and begin to teach as soon as she accomplished her certification through the Pilates Institute of Southern Californa in 2009.  Lisa remains active by running, strength training, and Pilates.  She believes Pilates is an essential part of life and strives to continue sharing and building on her knowledge for many years to come.
